In the film, a giant robot designed for destruction becomes self-aware, and with the help of a human boy learns that predetermination can be overcome by self-determination. My redesign of this film's poster needed to express the conflict of the narrative caused by the challenges faced by the dichotomy between being built for destruction versus turning away from a prime directive and instead evolving into a new and positive force for good.
I started my research by gathering inspiration art I was able to find online. My new design needed to follow a similar look and feel in order to establish familiarity with the subject matter.
Next, I created several sketches of the various elements I wanted to display in my re-imagining.
Below are the final elements of my reimagined poster for "The Iron Giant".
